CRIPPLE CREEK FESTIVAL - 2008
The Cripple Creek Festival is an annual event celebrating the heritage
and history of the Cripple Creek community in southern Wythe county. It
was a significant mining community in the late 19th and early 20th
century.
The festival is scheduled on the Saturday, May 24th from 10am to 5pm.
The event begins with a parade through town at 10am. The day’s
activities take place on the grounds of the old Beverely Mill at
Cripple Creek and Gleaves Rd. The day’s events include contests,
hourly entertainment, the duck race, crafts and craft displays, food
vendors, Cripple Creek souvenirs and activities for kids. Admission is
free.
This year’s entertainment features a variety of music with such
performers as the Tennessee Borderline Band, the Southwest Virginia
Cloggers, Kelsey Tibbs, Masonboro Boys, the New River Rock Skippers, 2
Young 2 Old Band, and John Sine, Jr.
